HPV testing has become a standard part of routine Pap smear screening for cervical cancer. The test checks for the presence of human papillomavirus (HPV), which is the primary cause of cervical cancer. HPV testing alongside the traditional Pap smear provides a more comprehensive screening approach, allowing healthcare providers to identify women at higher risk of developing cervical cancer.
This dual testing strategy has improved the early detection of precancerous changes, leading to more effective interventions and better patient outcomes.”
