We have kicked off our work of eliminating cervical cancer in Karongi district, Rwanda – Elekta Foundation

“Finally, we have kicked off our work in the beautiful Karongi district, located in Western Province, Rwanda. This is the third district where we focus on awareness, screening, prevention, and early treatment of cervical cancer. Did you know that we also screen for breast cancer at the same time?
‘In just two weeks, we’ve screened over 10,000 women for cervical and breast cancer, which is nearly one-third of our goal in the Karongi district. I’m super excited about these results. We have an amazing team, and it’s clear that a strong public-private partnership can quickly make a significant difference in local communities. With the rate of screening over 1,000 women every day, I’m confident that Rwanda will achieve the WHO’s target of eliminating cervical cancer before 2030′, says Lacy Hubbard, President of Elekta Foundation.”
