AONN+: How do we use Navigation Metrics?
AONN+ shared a post on LinkedIn:
“We have Navigation Metrics. Now how do we use them?
This is a question many navigators and their programs are asking as we enter this new era of navigation, where measurement and region of interest are prioritized.
Navigation metrics are invaluable to supporting core competencies, national indicators, and even reimbursement. But knowing which metrics to use, and even how to properly incorporate them into practice can be overwhelming. At AONN Midyear 2024, we addressed these questions and much more during General Session 7.
And for those who aren’t sure where to start with metrics, Chris Gosselin, Co-Chair of the AONN+ Metrics Committee, offers this advice:
‘The way that these metrics are used looks different for every organization. So, you shouldn’t take anything that we say as that is how you have to do this. You should make it so that it fits what is of most importance and of value to you and your organization to achieve your current and future goals to better support cancer patients. And that’s going to be different for everybody including community, academic, and even subsidiaries of these.’
How have the metrics helped within your practice? Or do you have any concerns or questions about incorporating the metrics into your program? We want to hear what you have to say in the comments below!”
