‘s post:“A huge thank-you to everyone who attended and spoke at our policy roundtable in Warsaw yesterday! We were delighted by the great depth of discussion, sharing of knowledge, and collective ambition to improve lung cancer screening and outcomes in Central and Eastern Europe.
The CEE region has high rates of smoking, making accelerated implementation of screening crucial to improve outcomes for people at greatest risk of lung cancer. The four countries that presented their progress – Croatia, Czechia, Poland and Hungary – reported positive results, including a clear stage shift towards increased early detection of lung cancer via LDCT screening.
Our expert speakers included Henryka Krzywonos, a member of Polish Parliament, who shared the story of her cancer diagnosis and emphasised the need for wider access to screening programmes. Penilla Gunther, a cancer survivor and EU Cancer Mission board member, also joined us to discuss the EU’s role in supporting nation-states to improve public health.
The roundtable marked the start of an ongoing collaboration and a commitment to raise awareness of the need for lung cancer screening implementation and share best practice, knowledge and screening strategies.
We are excited to witness the progression of these goals and commitments.”
