“Empowering the Next Generation to Combat Non-Communicable Diseases: A Personal Action
Did you know that non-communicable diseases (NCDs) are responsible for a staggering 75% of all disease-related deaths globally? From cancer to cardiovascular diseases, these conditions are taking a heavy toll on our communities. But there’s hope, and it starts with education and empowerment.
My Personal Involvement:
I had the profound privilege of leading the Slum and Rural Health Initiative Network’s and University of Jos Hub’s participation in the ‘Adopt a School NCDs Project’, a Campaign funded by AstraZeneca . As someone who has witnessed the devastating impact of NCDs firsthand, this initiative holds a special place in my heart.
A Day of Impact:
On Monday, 6th May 2024, at Baptist High School Jos, our team engaged with over 150 students, sparking heartfelt conversations about healthy living and disease prevention. Sharing personal stories and insights, we connected with these young minds on a deeper level, inspiring them to take charge of their health and well-being.
A Sustained Commitment:
Our journey doesn’t end here. This is just the beginning. As we continue to adopt more schools across Jos, our goal remains steadfast: to empower young minds to become advocates for their own health and the health of their communities while moving towards the goal of the eradication of Non Communicable Diseases.
Join us in the fight against NCDs. Together, we can create a healthier, brighter future for generations to come.”
