Chuck Westbrook: The time has come for me to leave the American Cancer Society
Chuck Westbrook, Senior Vice President at American Cancer Society, made the following post on LinkedIn:
“The time has come for me to leave the American Cancer Society. I’m honored to have been a leader in the Society’s work to empower the public with expert and timely information, as well as ACS’ tireless efforts to remove barriers to care through programs, education, and partnerships in the U.S. and around the world.
Our work has won acknowledgement and praise in the pages of journals, from the podiums of the powerful, and in a myriad of news accounts. As meaningful as that has been, I’ve seen nothing matter more to my colleagues than the notes of gratitude from people who were able to reach life-saving treatment or connect with an empathetic person during a difficult time. The American public knows the distinction of the American Cancer Society is its caring and understanding staff and volunteers.
Those same people have been extraordinary colleagues. What a privilege to be inspired, challenged, and befriended by the talented, intelligent, and insightful individuals whose purpose in the world is to provide a warm hand and an open heart.
As I move ahead to the next chapter of my career, I’m grateful for my years with the dedicated and devoted people of the . I’ll be cheering as they continue their work to ease the burden of cancer.
