Mark Lewis: There is no substitute for embodied experience
Mark Lewis shared on X/Twitter:
“My fellowship program Mayo Clinic Hematology-Oncology Fellowship wanted a talk by an ‘esteemed alumnus’ but, due to an email glitch, got me.
Regardless I tried to teach that there is no substitute for embodied experience, that ‘manageable toxicity’ is in the eye of the patient, and to discontinue nasogastric tube when possible!
My wife, hearing that I was giving this presentation: ‘what are you going to teach them? how to self-diagnose a hereditary tumor syndrome and then build an online persona around it?!'”
