Yin Ling Woo: How I wish to be with my team learning how to use these new HPV testing platforms
Yin Ling Woo, Professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at University of Malaya, shared on LinkedIn:
“I’m missing out!
How I wish to be with my team learning how to use these new HPV testing platforms.
It was more than 20 years ago (it hit me just how time flies and how old I am) when I got my hands ‘dirty’ learning and optimising molecular methods required to study HPV immunology. I remember designing and ordering primers, running gels, performing in-situ hybridizations, EliSPOTS etc. Those years taught me persistence, resilience, patience and appreciating that following protocols did not necessarily make my experiments behave!!
Back then, significant amount of laboratory based research was invested in answering how cervical cancer can be prevented.
Fastforward 20 years, we now have the tools to eliminate cervical cancer.
While we still have many unanswered questions that require lab based research, we must now ensure steps are taken to equitably implement the WHO 90-70-90 CCE strategy.”
