Maximilian Merz: Smells like team spirit

Maximilian Merz, University, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“Smells like team spirit*

I am super proud to see our work on single-cell multiomics in anti-BCMA CAR T-cells for relapsed/refractory multiple myeloma being published in Nature Cancer!

This was a great effort from a multi-disciplinary team of researchers from the Leipzig University, ICCAS – Innovation Center Computer Assisted Surgery and Fraunhofer IZI. Together with our friends from Singleron Biotechnologies we were able to demonstrate that patients who show sub-optimal response to anti-BCMA CAR T-cells can be identified at apheresis and show distinct changes in the CAR T and non-CAR T-cell compartment after infusion.

Special thanks to:
– our bioinformagicians Nora Grieb, Michael Rade and their supervisor Kristin Reiche
– my partner in crime, GMP wizard Vladan Vucinic
Ulrike Köhl and Uwe Platzbecker for supporting this project from the very early beginnings
International Myeloma Society and Paula and Rodger Riney Foundation, The Janssen Pharmaceutical Companies of Johnson and Johnson, SpringWorks Therapeutics, Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) – German Research Foundation for the financial support!

This work built the foundation for our recently approved CERTAINTY EU HORIZON project. We will use our single-cell multiomic platform to build virtual twins for improved CAR T-cell manufacturing and application.

Stay tuned!
