Brittany Parker Kerrigan: My last day as an employee of MD Anderson

Brittany Parker Kerrigan, MD Anderson Cancer Center, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“I’ll never forget my first day. One by one the camera panned to each seat within Onstead Auditorium, each of which was occupied by an incoming student within the MD Anderson Cancer Center UT Health Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences. When my turn came, I loudly and proudly exclaimed, ‘My name is Brittany Parker and I’m really excited to be here.’

That first day excitement has turned into a fifteen year career where I have had the tremendous privilege to be trained by and work among the absolute greatest minds in the world in the fight against cancer – especially my greatest mentors and sponsors, Drs. Wei Zhang, Andy Bean, Greg Fuller, Elizabeth Travis, and Frederick F. Lang, M.D..

Today is my last day as an employee of MD Anderson. My journey ahead merges my passion for neuroscience, my unwavering mission to conquer brain cancer, and the boundless love of a mother. The philanthropic venture will unite top minds worldwide while providing the necessary support and infrastructure to revolutionize the treatment of pediatric brain cancers.

The scientific training, relationships, and leadership skills I’ve gained at MD Anderson Cancer Center have uniquely prepared me for the challenges ahead. MD Anderson is ranked #1 for a reason, and I am thankful, grateful, and privileged to have called it my home.

On my last day, here it is, one last time (with a few ‘extras’ attached): ‘My name is Dr. Brittany Parker Kerrigan, and I’m really excited to be here.'”
