Onyinye Balogun: Cancer screening rates remain unacceptably low among US immigrants

Onyinye Balogun, Co-Founder of CMO Mission-Driven Tech, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“Having immigrated to the United States at 7 years old, it’s particularly meaningful to me to engage with the Diligently Serving Immigrants group tonight to discuss breast cancer and cervical cancer screening.

Cancer screening rates remain unacceptably low among US immigrants, who are less likely than US-born individuals to undergo screening for cervical, breast, and colorectal cancers. To learn more, check out this paper on screening disparities among US immigrants by Camille Ragin and Carolyn Fang.

Thanks to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and The City College of New York CCNY/MSKCC Partnership Program leaders, Gabriela Rebollo Becerra, Josana Tonda, Luis Enrique Banegas, Toyin Omolola and my favorite medical oncologist Fiyinfolu Balogun for the invitation.

If you have not recently had your mammogram or Pap and HPV test, please schedule these exams or reach out if you need guidance on where to do so.”
