Bishal Gyawali: Sometimes we harm the patients by lowering the bar simply because the disease is bad
Bishal Gyawali, Associate professor in medical oncology and public health sciences in the Division of Cancer Care and Epidemiology at Queen’s University, shared on X/Twitter:
“Disease X has poor prognosis.
Which is sad.
BUT that does NOT automatically mean.
Therefore, let’s lower the standard for disease X and approve all drugs.
Sometimes, we harm the patients (and always, we harm the system) by lowering the bar simply because the disease is bad.”
