Gustavo Viani: Hypo Radiationtherapy shows comparable long term results to the standard of care for Glioblastoma!
Gustavo A. Viani, Professor of Radiation Oncology at Ribeirão Preto Medical School, University of Sao Paulo, wrote in a recent tweet:
“Hypo Radiationtherapy shows comparable long-term results to the standard of care for Glioblastoma! Phase 2 89 postsurgery Glioblastoma patients were randomized to conventional radiotherapy (CRT) or hypofractionated accelerated RT (HART)
– CRT= 60 Gy /30 fr; HART= 60 Gy /20 +TMZ both arms:
Primary endpoints: 5-year OS & PFS
Results
– Median OS 26.5: months in HART group and 22.4 months in CRT group
– No significant difference in 5-year OS rates: 18% in HART group and 3.8% in CRT group
– No significant difference in PFS between HART and CRT groups.”
