Elie G. Dib: In our recent article we assigned genomic alterations to each hallmark and uncovered some intriguing patterns

Quoting Elie G. Dib, Associate Director of the Haematology-Oncology Training Program at Saint Joseph Mercy Hospital, on LinkedIn:

“In our recent article ‘Genomic Profiling of the Hallmarks of Cancer,’ we not only assigned genomic alterations to each hallmark but also uncovered some intriguing patterns.

Through our systematic profiling, we identified certain genomic alterations that were unique to specific hallmarks. This suggests that these alterations may play a crucial role in driving those particular cancer processes. On the other hand, we also found genomic mutations that were shared across multiple hallmarks.  This highlights the complex and interconnected nature of cancer biology, with some alterations influencing various aspects of tumor progression. By distinguishing between unique and shared genomic alterations, our approach provides a more nuanced understanding of the molecular mechanisms at play. This knowledge could help guide the development of more targeted and effective cancer therapies.
