Arif Kamal: 31 is a unique number
Arif Kamal, Chief Patient Officer at the American Cancer Society, posted on LinkedIn:
“31 is a unique number. Other than being prime, it also is the number of days in seven months of the year. And if you enjoy ice cream, the number of flavors you could choose from.
It’s also the number of American Cancer Society Hope Lodge communities. Last year, these homes-away-from-home provided no-cost lodging for 500,000 nights so more people could access cutting edge treatment not available in their backyards.
And we’re breaking ground on #32 in San Antonio!
31 is also the number of miles per day that endurance athlete and ACS colleague and friend Ramon Bermo will run per day for the next 60 days to raise awareness and resources for the Hope Lodge. He’s starting from the east coast while new colleagues David Grier and Andrew Stuart will begin in San Francisco.
Ramon started at the New York City Hope Lodge yesterday and will make stops at the Lodges in Philadelphia (4/4), Baltimore (4/9), Cleveland (4/20), Iowa City (5/8) and Rochester, MN (5/14), eventually ending in Omaha on 6/2. If you’re in those cities, stop by and say hello. He’ll be the one a little sweaty but with the big, beaming smile.
Thanks to our sponsors Cipla, Tradeweb, Exact Sciences, Finish Line Physical Therapy, PUMA Group, and Delta Air Lines (shout out to colleagues Ed Bastian & Henry Ting).
