For 15 years, Bloomberg Philanthropies and World Health Organization have worked collaboratively to cut smoking rates globally – Mike Bloomberg
For 15 years, Bloomberg Philanthropies and World Health Organization have worked collaboratively to cut smoking rates globally. We’ve seen tremendous progress:
– Smoke-free policies in 74 countries total
– Additional tobacco controls that protect more than 5 billion people
– Global smoking prevalence declined from 22.8% in 2007 to 17.0% in 2021
Yet, there’s much more to be done. We know that tobacco companies will keep trying to spread their addictive products, especially to young people, putting new generations at risk of cancer, heart disease, and premature death.
We’re going to keep building on our success, keep pushing back, and keep winning this fight to save lives.
