Tara Frenkl: What an incredible experience it was to be on a panel with our guests Stacy Hurt and Amy McKee

Tara Frenkl, Senior Vice President and Head of Oncology Development at Bayer, shared on LinkedIn:

“What an incredible experience it was to be on a panel with our guests Stacy Hurt, MHA, MBA, Parexel’s Chief Patient Officer, and Amy McKee, Chief Medical Officer and Global Head of Oncology Center of Excellence.

The 6th edition of our Bayer Oncology Development Forum, an educational series to keep our employees who work in oncology drug development apprised of latest guidelines and important emerging topics, was focused on pragmatic clinical trials. It reinforced our ‘why’ in delivering clinical trials, as well as why urgency is crucial in oncology clinical trials. We also delved into the importance of streamlining protocols to reduce the burden on patients, so that trials fit into patients’ lives and not the other way around. I could not agree more with Stacy’s call to action: ‘This is urgent! If we are not innovating, we are stagnating – and in oncology that means more people are at risk of dying too early.’

Stacy shared invaluable insights from her own journey as a mother and primary caretaker to her son with rare disease, cancer survivor, and CPO to give us deeper insights into the patient perspective. Amy’s expertise in pragmatic elements to enhance cancer trials as well as her oncology and regulatory expertise added depth to our panel, resulting in actionable strategies to help improve clinical study design.

Thank you to everyone who joined us on this enlightening discussion. Let’s continue working together to drive innovation in clinical trials and improve outcomes for patients worldwide. Great thanks to Anita Kratchmarov, Minghua Shan, Pooja Merchant, Birgit Wolf, Nina Hillen, and Oana Petrenciuc for their insights and contributions to this forum!”
