Wafik S. El-Deiry: May Dr. Coleman rest-in-peace
Wafik S. El-Deiry, Director of the Legorreta Cancer Center at Brown University, shared a post by Radiation Research Society on LinkedIn:
“May Dr. Coleman rest-in-peace.
I reached out and spoke with him a few months ago in 2023 and he appreciated some preclinical results we have in mitigating radiation toxicity post-exposure that we are excited about.
He was very helpful in suggesting and made some connections with others who might have an interest.
I did submit a grant in 2023 about this to the National Cancer Institute (NCI) that went to the radiation study section but they sadly did not appreciate the significance and I thought were excessively negative.
However, in academia we keep going, overcome adversity and hope for better days.
