Joshua Omale: Engaging in grassroots initiatives has been the heartbeat of my childhood cancer advocacy journey
Joshua Omale, Cancer Advocate and a Student Member of the Coalition Against Childhood Cancer (CAC2), shared a post on LinkedIn:
”Day 15: Advocacy Tip – Grassroots Initiatives
Engaging in grassroots initiatives has been the heartbeat of my childhood cancer advocacy journey. From the grassroots, we’ve planted seeds of awareness, nurturing them into impactful campaigns that resonate within local communities.
Connecting Locally:
Launching the Campus Cancer Awareness Initiative in Nigeria at the University of Jos was a grassroots endeavor. By connecting with students, faculty, and the local community, we sowed the seeds of awareness and compassion.
Global Impact from Local Roots:
What starts locally can have a global impact. Last year, our grassroots efforts culminated in raising funds to support children battling cancer at the Jos University Teaching Hospital. Every donation was a testament to the power of collective action, proving that impactful change can stem from the smallest communities.
Community-Driven Advocacy:
Grassroots initiatives are more than just events; they are community-driven advocacy. It’s about fostering a sense of togetherness, ensuring that no child faces the journey of childhood cancer alone. Together, we’ve been able to plant seeds of hope, compassion, and change.
Looking Forward:
As we continue this advocacy journey, let’s remember the strength that grows from the grassroots. It’s a reminder that change starts with us, in our local communities, as we work towards a world where childhood cancer is not only understood but actively fought against.
Let’s keep planting seeds of change, nurturing them to grow into a future free from the grasp of childhood cancer.”
