Sam Oches: Today Jude is cancer-free and happily adjusted to life with a prosthetic eye

Sam Oches, Group Director, Editorial at Informa’s Restaurant and Food Group, posted on LinkedIn:

“A few weeks ago, I shared a bit about my son Jude, who was diagnosed with retinoblastoma (eye tumor) at 9 months and endured three years of chemo, radiation, and laser therapy before having his eye removed shortly after Christmas 2022. Today Jude is cancer-free and happily adjusted to life with a prosthetic eye.

I appreciated all the outreach and love after the post; admittedly I’m hesitant to blend too much personal in with the professional, and as you can imagine it’s hard to find a way to bring up subjects like this one. Now, however, our family is blessed to have Jude’s cancer behind us and we’re eager to join the fight in raising awareness and funds for childhood cancer research and support. We know first-hand the life-saving impact that well-supported doctors, hospitals and researchers can have in the lives of patients and their families.

With that said, I’m excited to say I’ve joined the Advisory Council with Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, a phenomenal organization whose mission is to change the lives of children with cancer through funding impactful research, raising awareness, supporting families and empowering everyone to help cure childhood cancer.

If your business is looking for a charitable cause to support, Alex’s Lemonade Stand is a wonderful option that has a very real impact on childhood cancer patients and families — an impact I can attest to. And they offer custom partnerships for restaurants or any business interested in raising awareness and funds for the fight against childhood cancer. For more information on getting involved, DM me or click here.

By the way, this picture of Jude is from almost exactly a year ago: It’s the first picture with his new eye. See if you can tell which one it is.”
