“We are very pleased to announce the recipients of the Home Away from Home grants, by Childhood Cancer International and Foundation S. We are excited by the prospects of these projects which perfectly align with the main goal of this programme – to decrease treatment abandonment of children and adolescents with cancer in low- and middle-income countries by supporting organisations to provide a second Home for the patients and their caregivers, close to the local health services.
We received 22 compelling and worthy proposals and in the end (in alignment with the fund amount) we had to choose the top three. Thanks to all the organisations who sent their projects – the time and effort is appreciated. This was hard decision for the selection committee, and after careful assessment and much consideration the Home projects of the following organisations were selected:
1. Bolivia, Fundación Nuestra Esperanza
2. Zambia, Kayula Childhood Cancer Foundation
3. Malaysia, NCSM at The National Cancer Society Malaysia
We congratulate these organisations for their hard work and invite them to share the good news among their communities. We look forward to seeing the impact of the Home Away From Home projects, and the reports on how children, adolescents and caregivers will benefit!
A deep thank you to all in the CCI community that participated in this programme.
Let’s keep saving lives together!”
