Susan Byrnes: While women live longer than men, they spend more of their lives in poor health

Susan Byrnes, Chief Communications Officer at Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, recently shared on LinkedIn:

“While women live longer than men, they spend more of their lives in poor health. Women are more likely to get a later diagnosis or receive a lower standard of care.

This isn’t just a social or political problem—it’s an economic one.

– The health gap most impacts women during their working years.
– Every dollar invested in women’s health yields $3 in economic growth, according to a new report from the World Economic Forum and McKinsey & Company.
– Closing the health gap would boost the economy by $1 trillion by 2040.

When we invest in women’s health, we’re not just saving lives and livelihoods—we’re growing the economy and reducing inequality.

More from the World Economic Forum.”
