It is bitter sweet that I share my last surgical case at Moffitt Main hospital – Nam Tran
It is bitter sweet that I share my last surgical case at Moffitt Main hospital. These walls show their signs of age from 30+ years of service. If these walls could talk, they would tell the tales of many students, nurses and doctors who have graced these hallow grounds seeking knowledge. Some enter as eager novices, while others enter as skilled craftsmen wishing to hone their skills. Yet all walked away with a greater sense of purpose and appreciation for the art of healing in oncology. Countless patients have entered seeking refuge from the uncertainty of a cancer diagnosis. My personal journey began here in July 2009. Since that time, the Moffitt team and I have cared for thousands of patients. We cherish memories of small victories of knowing we’ve given our patients more time to spend time with family, more time to fight their cancers, or even a reprieve from their cancer pain. As we transition to our new state of the art surgical hospital next week, we shall carry these memories with us as we forge new ones in our mission for the prevention and cure of cancer.
