The 4th Armenian Oncology Congress has started
This year the 4th Armenian Oncology congress, held under the theme “Oncology in Armenia: Current Achievements and New Challenges,” is taking place in the picturesque city of Jermuk, Armenia.
💬 At the official opening ceremony, the Minister of the Health Anahit Avanesyan welcomed participants by noting that Armenia has achieved significant success in the fight against cancer in recent years. “We have an increase in the number of cases detected for the first time and a decrease in the number of deaths.”
According to the Minister, while the indicators are encouraging, we should not be satisfied with these records. “The biggest reform of the Government and the Ministry of Health in the coming years should be comprehensive health insurance, which should try to provide complete solutions to the fight against cancer.”
Anahit Avanesyan emphasized that international communications and cooperations are important, which become possible thanks to this congress, as well.
💬The director of the National Center of Oncology Narek Manukyan, in his welcoming speech also mentioned that in the last 4 years the number of deaths from tumor diseases in Armenia decreased by 6.4%.
Narek Manukyan emphasized that we were able to achieve such a result in Armenia thanks to:
✅specialists undergoing constant trainings,
✅ State support programs operating since 2019,
✅ giving importance to oncology by medical institutions.
Speaking about the choice of venue for the 4th Armenian Oncology Congress, the director of the National Center of Oncology said:
📍”The city of Jermuk was chosen to show that we stand firmly on our land and in case of any problem we will be in our beloved Jermuk within a few hours.”
🔸Director of NCO wished the participants of the congress success and fruitful work.

Today is World Cancer Day 2024, a meaningful coincidence for us taking part of the IV Armenian Oncology Congress. As a pediatric oncologist it has been an honor to be here, share awareness of children’s cancer and open doors for collaboration.

Great time connecting at the Armenian Oncology Congress in Jermuk!
Honored to meet HE Anahit Avanesyan, Minister of Health of Armenia, discussing oncology training and drug formulary collaboration. Oncology care in Armenia is progressing very rapidly. Deep interest by states in cancer care is crucial.
It was a great honor to be invited to give a lecture at the Armenian Oncology Congress, which took place on February 3-4, 2024, in Jermuk. Among the presentations of many distinguished lecturers who came to Armenia from all over the world, the experiences of the Department of Oncology, Jagiellonian University Hospital in Krakow, were presented in the area of using metronomic chemotherapy in the treatment of advanced, treatment-resistant solid tumors.
The Armenian Oncology Congress is an example of how extremely dynamically is oncology developing in this small but very ambitious country. Declarations made by one of the most eminent oncologists in this country (Gevorg Tamamyan) that Armenian oncology will go global are becoming a reality. Just see the global reach of Oncodaily.com, which originates from Armenia… Good luck guys!
Happy moments from the Armenian Oncology Congress!
