“In Memory of Professor Ben Mijnheer.
Radiotherapy and Oncology (Green Journal) and PhiRO – Physics and Imaging in Radiation Oncology are launching a joint commemorative virtual special issue to honour the legacy of Professor Ben Mijnheer, a pioneering figure in radiotherapy physics.
Ben was the first Physics Editor of Radiotherapy and Oncology and played a key role in supporting the development of phiRO. He was widely respected for his scientific rigour, mentorship, and enduring contributions to clinical dosimetry and quality assurance in radiotherapy.
This Special Issue will focus on topics closely aligned with Ben’s lifelong work, including:
- Development and application of detectors and dosimeters
- Clinical dosimetry methods and in vivo dosimetry
- Innovation in treatment verification and QA
- On-board/in-room imaging for radiotherapy
- Accuracy and precision in dose and geometry.
Papers with multidisciplinary relevance should be submitted to Radiotherapy and Oncology.
Physics and technology-focused manuscripts should be submitted to phiRO.
Submission deadline: 31 December 2025.
We invite the community to contribute to this special issue as a reflection of Ben’s enduring impact on the field.”
