Nandini Oomman: Government of India has plan to subsidize HPV vaccines as part of the immunization program
Nandini Oomman, Chief Executive Officer of Samya Ventures, shared on their LinkedIn:
”Some good news from the Government of India’s newly announced budget. A plan to subsidize HPV vaccines as part of the immunization program. They are currently expensive and the vaccines are only available through private care. While it is a good start to target girls aged 9-14, let’s hope that the program will eventually target boys too, to achieve HPV prevention at scale in a country where cervical cancer is the second leading cause of cancer deaths among women. Twenty five percent of all global deaths due to cervical cancer occur in India! It’s time!”
