Calling for proposals for the Cancer Research UK Convergence Science Centre PhD Programme starting in October 2024. Shape the future of cancer research with impactful PhD proposals and guide the next generation of convergence scientists.

Join us and empower future leaders in the fight against cancer.

Cancer Research UK (CRUK) Funding:
Successful applicants will receive a fixed annual stipend of £23,000, research consumables budget, and home fees for a four-year period.

Thematic Focus:
We seek proposals aligned with our strategic area: “Visualise and localise cancer at microscale.” Push the boundaries of cancer detection at microscale, targeting early-stage diseases, microlesions, and more. We invite PhD project applications using diverse physical, mathematical, or chemical approaches for tracking and imaging microscopic tumour lesions. Whether clinical or preclinical, any medical, surgical imaging, chemical tracking, AI-assisted imaging, or novel technology/methodology is welcome.

Key Requirements:
– Address a cancer challenge aligned with our theme
– Offer novelty, high quality, and feasibility within four years
– Convergence science approach for joint investigator led projects, fostering interdisciplinary training and novel ideas integration between the ICR and Imperial
– Early career researchers with tenure for studentship duration are encouraged to apply.
