”First Ladies Against Cancer (FLAC) Launch Flagship Screening Clinic at Kebbi medical center.
One of the most cited reasons for failure of programs initiated by spouses of political leaders and even government programs, is the lack of continuity by successive governments. It is therefore my delight and honour to see the Kebbi state government of H.E. Governor Nasir Idris, supported by his amiable wife, H.E. Haj Nafisa, commit to fighting the scourge of cancer in Kebbi state.
After a successful visit the previous day to Governor Idris by the Roche Nigeria team, I was joined by Founder NANAS Foundation, Her Excellency Hajiya Nafisa Nasir Idris, to commission a flagship FLAC Screening Clinic supported by Roche Pharmaceuticals, at Kebbi Medical Center, Birnin Kebbi. The clinic has been established to bolster early detection efforts for cancer.
The FLAC Screening Clinic which is to be run by MEDICAID CANCER FOUNDATION and Nanas Foundation, will create awareness, generate vaccine demand and provide free ultrasound screening for women under 40 years of age.
In my opening remarks as the Chairperson of FLAC, FIRST LADIES AGAINST CANCER (FLAC) LAUNCH FLAGSHIP SCREENING CLINIC AT KEBBI MEDICAL CENTER.
The Roche team led by Dr Ladi Hameed, thanked the Governor of Kebbi State His Excellency Dr. Nasir Idris (Kauran Gwandu) for continuing various established efforts to reduce the burden of cancer in his state.
The event also witnessed the distribution of N250,000 each to 20 indigent cancer patients by Hajiya Nafisa Idris, under the Kebbi state indigent patient support program.
The long standing collaboration between FLAC and Roche Pharmaceuticals, fosters early cancer detection, capacity building and provides crucial support for cancer patients. Already an Ultrasound training is being arranged for sonographers on breast ultrasound. The KMC-FLAC Screening Clinic is the first of many to be established in all FLAC member states.”
