Global Summit on War and Cancer 2023: Andreas Charalambous’ speech on the impact of war and other humanitarian crisis on cancer care

The 1st Global Summit on War and Cancer took place on 14 – 16 December, 2023. It was organized by the Institute of Cancer and Crisis and OncoDaily. Renowned healthcare specialists from all over the world came together to discuss cancer issues at the time of war.

We were honored to have Andreas Charalambous, the President of the European Cancer Organisation (ECO), as a speaker during the Summit where he shared insights on how war and other humanitarian crisis impact cancer care.

Dr. Charalambous introduced the types of humanitarian crisis focusing on regions currently affected by war, the percussions of war on clinical research. He concluded his speech with the presentation of ECO-ASCO Special Network and its activity.

Andreas Charalambous is the President of the European Cancer Organisation (ECO) and the Founder of the European Cancer Communities Foundation. He is also a Professor of Oncology and Palliative Care in Cyprus University of Technology and an Adjunct Professor at the University of Turku, Finland. Dr Charalambous is the Former President of the European Oncology Nursing Society.
