Kristen Dahlgrena: Cancer Research at a Crossroads, Sustaining Progress Against Cancer for the Benefit of Patients

Kristen Dahlgrena, Founder and CEO at

“Never did I ever… think I would be asked to address a conference full of scientists about the future of their work… but here I am at the American Association for Cancer Research annual meeting.

Tomorrow I will take the stage with Monica Bertagnolli, Kimryn Rathmell,Clifton Leaf, Patricia LoRusso, E John Wherry, Larry Saltzman, Cody Wolf, for a critical discussion: Cancer Research at a Crossroads: Sustaining Progress Against Cancer for the Benefit of Patients.

This impacts ALL OF US. Whether you are a scientist, patient, or just somebody going about your life YOU NEED THIS CANCER RESEARCH. Reality is someone YOU care about will be diagnosed with cancer.

I don’t wish it on anyone but in the past 8 years, I have had a child with Leukemia, my own breast cancer, and I lost my Dad to cancer in November. I never thought it would happen to my family once – let alone three times.

Without cancer research, my stepson and I would not be here. Future treatments will save someone like my Dad, but if cancer research is at risk, we all are.

Please join us in talking about this moment in time, exploring the hope in the research going on RIGHT NOW, and insist that we build a better future for all of us. Education and communication are key right now. There is hope. We need to hold on to it.

So come check out this panel if you are at AACR, stop by the Cancer Vaccine Coalition booth, tell us your stories and if you are not here in Chicago, check out our website and sign up for our newsletters!

CVC is a coalition of EVERYONE – Together we can do this!”
