Runcie C.W. Chidebe: When you ever have the opportunity, please allow people to see the world through you
Runcie C.W. Chidebe, Executive Director of Project PINK BLUE, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“When you ever have the opportunity, please allow people to see the world through you. Share your stories in the most meaningful way. Listen to understand.
Interact to engage everyone and make sure that your audience are co-driving the conversation.
I have always wanted opportunities to share the stories, values, and passions of Nigerians and what Nigeria is that is not always in the biggest media platforms.
In February 2025, I was so humbled to speak with community members (mostly older adults) of the Preble County Council on Aging. My presentation was about Nigeria: our values and passion. This is one of my most memorable speaking engagements. I shared the story of Malik Afegbua, a Nigerian AI technologist, filmmaker & creative artist who is using AI to reduce ageism and revolutionising our thinking of growing old. Malik is one of the finest Nigerians shaping our future.
I also shared many other stories of our strength and resilience. I used Fela’s song to engage my audience, I got them to sing with me. I also utilised my principles of no long texts on slides rather pictures to activate conversations.
Speaking thanks the International Student & Scholars Office of Miami University for making this happen. Special thanks to Laura Desmond who connected me to this amazing opportunity. Special to Leah Janssen, who tirelessly share opportunities to all of us.
Preble County Council on Aging is doing an amazing work for their older adults and the community. If you can please support this council – Preble County Council on Aging.
Let’s do this again.”
