Amil Družić: Proud to support January’s ‘A Shared Vision for South East Europe’ event
Amil Družić, Oncology and Radiotherapy Resident at the Clinical Center University of Sarajevo, reshared a post by David Winterflood, Director of NOMAN is an Island: Race to End HPV, on LinkedIn, adding:
“With Bulgaria expanding its HPV vaccination program to include boys, a major step has been taken toward eliminating HPV-related cancers in our region.
As Vice Chair of the HPV Focused Topic Network at the European Cancer Organisation and someone committed to prevention efforts in Bosnia and Herzegovina, I was proud to support January’s ‘A Shared Vision for South East Europe’ event. This achievement, inspired by the South East Europe Declaration, proves what regional collaboration can accomplish.
I hope that by the end of this year, Bosnia and Herzegovina will expand gender-neutral HPV vaccination, ensure access for young adults, and make commercial vaccines available across the entire country.”
Quoting David Winterflood‘s post:
“Bulgaria has adopted a new, expanded National Program for the Primary Prevention of Cancers Caused by HPV (2025–2030), which for the first time will see boys vaccinated against human papillomavirus alongside existing initiatives to protect girls in the country.
NOMAN is an Island: Race to End HPV has been proud to support efforts to achieve this in recent years, including sponsoring January’s ‘A Shared Vision for South East Europe: Eliminating HPV Cancers Together’. Congratulations must go to the HPV Coalition in Bulgaria, European Cancer Organisation, ministers and other stakeholders in civil society and health who have enabled this goal to be realised.
We hope the commitments raised in the South East Europe Declaration will enable further progress to be attained towards the goal of eliminating HPV cancers in other countries in the SE European region.”
