Sachin H. Jain: I’ve joined the Board of the fellowship with hopes of contributing to this important program’s continued vitality
Sachin H. Jain, President and CEO of Scan Group and Health Plan, shared on LinkedIn:
“When I was a medical student, I learned of a fellowship for immigrants and children of immigrants that provided generous funding for graduate studies. I applied to The Paul and Daisy Soros Fellowships for New Americans—and was honored to be selected as a fellow in the 5th class (2004).
While I initially applied to the fellowship for the generous funding for my graduate studies (at the time, half tuition for two years and a $20,000 annual stipend)—far more important to my life was joining a community of New Americans who were united by their commitment to giving back to American society.
Soros Fellows are leaders in government, medicine, law, science and academia, finance, entrepreneurship, and the arts—and are living embodiments of the vital contributions immigrants make to American society. In my 20 years as a Fellow, I have received a steady dose of inspiration from fellows new and old—each of whom not is a leader in their field and community, but also a well-meaning human being.
Today, I share the news that I’ve joined the Board of the fellowship with hopes of contributing to this important program’s continued vitality.
Huge thanks to the Soros Family; to Warren Ilchman and Stanley Heginbotham for selecting me as a Fellow and building such a rich community of fellows; and to Craig Harwood and his amazing team for continuing to elevate the fellowship and for recommending me to the Board.
I strongly encourage interested individuals to learn more about this important community of scholars and leaders.”
