“New Blog & Video Alert!
“Building the Next Generation of Genomics Researchers in Africa: CoGSAYR at the Forefront”
We’re thrilled to share an inspiring new blog by Dr. Gladys Zugwai Ibrahim, Founder & Executive Director of CoGSAYR Africa, alongside a special video message on how young scientists are shaping Africa’s genomics future!
“Africa’s genomic future lies in the hands of its young scientists. By investing in their passion, training, and collaboration, we are not just advancing research—we are shaping a healthier, more resilient continent.”
Key Highlights:
- Bridging the Genomics Gap.
Despite Africa’s vast genetic diversity, representation in global genomic datasets remains disproportionately low. CoGSAYR Africa is changing this by training and connecting young African scientists. - Building a Collaborative Research Community.
Since its launch in 2024, CoGSAYR Africa has attracted aspiring researchers from 11 African countries, organizing them into specialized interest groups to tackle major health challenges. - Capacity-Building and Knowledge Sharing.
With monthly General Assemblies, mentorship programs, and hands-on training, CoGSAYR Africa is equipping students and early-career researchers with the tools to lead genomics innovation. - A Landmark Conference in November 2025.
The first-ever CoGSAYR Conference will be the largest gathering of young genomics researchers in Africa! Attendees will engage in bioinformatics training, pathogen surveillance workshops, and genomics policy discussions.
Call to Action:
Africa’s future in genomics depends on strong partnerships! We invite research institutes, genomics organizations, and professionals to collaborate with CoGSAYR to provide fellowships, mentorships, and research opportunities. Let’s shape the next generation of genomics leaders together!
