Isabel Mestres: Incredible work in cancer care in India
Isabel Mestres, CEO at City Cancer Challenge Foundation, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Why did it take me so long to come to India and see their incredible work in cancer care?
I’ve just wrapped up the first part of my journey here, and it’s exceeded all expectations. From meetings with leaders in public and private hospitals to inspiring tech innovators and local health companies, I’ve gained a whole new perspective on what’s possible.
The opportunities in India are huge, not just for the country, but for all low- and middle-income countries. India’s entrepreneurial spirit, strong research base, and innovative, cost-effective solutions are already transforming cancer care. Public-private partnerships are leading the way with models that could inspire global change. To the City Cancer Challenge team and partners: this visit has reinforced the value of our model and grown my ambition, even further!
Together with Mathieu Morand and Chika Kitajima we are heading into the second part of the trip, assessing whether a new city will join the C/Can family. One city at a time, we’re shaping the future of cancer care. Stay tuned!
Huge thank you to everyone who made the time to meet us. Specially our long lasting partnerships lead by
CS Pramesh and all his amasing team at Tata Memorial Hospital, Dr Suresh Kumar and his dream team at Institute of Palliative Medicine and the innovators and mentors from Siemens Healthineers team in Bangalore.”
