Jennifer Bires: Proud to speak on AI and mental health at NCCS Cancer Advocacy’s Spring 2025 Cancer Policy Roundtable
Jennifer Bires, Executive Director of Life with Cancer and Patient Experience for the Inova Schar Cancer Institute, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Proud to speak on AI and mental health at NCCS Cancer Advocacy’s Spring 2025 Cancer Policy Roundtable with fellow panelists Irene Dankwa-Mullan, Andrew Hantel, Maya Said, Troy Tazbaz with a huge thanks to Shelley Fuld Nasso for helping to lead the discussion.
Too often, cancer care and AI discussions focus solely on the physical aspects, but today, I had the opportunity to highlight why mental health must be a core part of the conversation—especially as AI continues to shape the future of healthcare.
As we explored AI’s potential in cancer care, I was encouraged to see NCCS ensuring that mental health isn’t overlooked in these innovations. AI can enhance care in many ways, but without proper regulations and safeguards, we risk leaving behind the very patients we aim to support.
Grateful for the chance to join this important dialogue and advocate for whole-person cancer care.
Thank you, NCCS Cancer Advocacy, for the platform to speak and for your leadership in driving patient-centered policies.”
