Hedley Lewis: Navigating the Noise – Leadership in Childhood Cancer Advocacy
Hedley Lewis, Board Member at Childhood Cancer International, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Navigating the Noise: Leadership in Childhood Cancer Advocacy
Leading in the childhood cancer space is not just about strategy and decision-making—it’s about cutting through the noise to focus on what truly matters. Each day, I’m reminded that despite the numerous voices, demands, and challenges, our mission remains unwavering: to ensure that no child, teenagers or family faces cancer alone.
I’ve learned that leadership in this space requires:
- Filtering out distractions– Not every trend or opinion aligns with our mission, so staying focused is essential.
- Listening to the right voices – The voices of children, teenagers, parents, survivors, and healthcare professionals must be our primary concern.
- Balancing head and heart – Every decision carries emotional weight, must it must be considered holistically
There will always be noise, but true leadership involves discerning what to tune out and what to amplify. For me, that means elevating the voices that truly matter, making decisions that serve our families best, and ensuring CHOC Childhood Cancer Foundation remains a pillar of support, advocacy, and hope.”
