Akshat Jain: Serving as faculty and speaking at sessions from Day 1 is a personal career landmark for me!
Akshat Jain, Medical Director Pediatric and Young Adult Program for Hemostasis/Thrombosis and Sickle Cell Disease at Loma Linda University, made the following post on Twitter:
“The American Society of Hematology meeting 2023 has begun in sunny San Diego!
The biggest international platform to showcase scientific research, discuss innovation, improve patient survival outcomes, and incubate novel research collaboratives and ideas.
Serving as faculty and speaking at sessions from Day 1 is a personal career landmark for me!
The meeting is off to a great start with FDA announcing the first ever human application of gene editing in humans for sickle cell disease, and our center to be chosen at the handful few in the world as a “Qualified Treatment Center” to offer this shot at cure is monumental.
I’ve personally witnessed and worked tirelessly over the past decade in the arena of gene therapies and to see it happen on a day that I reach a personal academic benchmark is too overwhelming!”
