Fabrice Andre: Aside trials testing Innovations, there is a need for trials testing pragmatic questions in oncology
Fabrice Andre, Division at Gustave Roussy Institute, recently shared on X/Twitter:
“Aside trials testing Innovations, there is a need for trials testing pragmatic questions in oncology. These trials must show the nb of data collected and bureaucracy. This is 1 of the 4 pillars of clinical research strategy Gustave Roussy Institute.
<5% of data are used for the 1ry endpoint and < 20% are used in the 1ry publication. Data inflation in trials leads to overcost = trials are not feasible because too expensive. Sol: run trials that acquire ONLY data for 1ry endpoint to address Q w high impact on public health.
To address this question, Cris Cancer Foundation and Gustave Roussy Institute foundations have developed a program called « real life trials ». 5 practice changing trials funded so far, < 1 M euros each.”
