““Global Minds, One Mission – Advancing Equitable Cancer Care”
At our recently concluded prelude summit to the main in November 2025 event, a dynamic gathering of researchers, scientists, policymakers and industry leaders from 12 countries united under the collaboration of Sam Higginbottom University of Agriculture, Technology, and Sciences (SHUATS) and the International Cancer Patient Coalition to chart a transformative course for global cancer care equity.
A standout moment was Prof. daniela chieffo inspiring keynote on the “Rehabilitation 2030 Initiative.” She illuminated that the future of cancer care hinges not only on advanced treatments but also on embracing a holistic, patient-centered approach. According to Prof. Chieffo, true healing emerges when we integrate comprehensive supportive care—nurturing both physical recovery and emotional well-being—with cutting-edge medical interventions.
Her message was a powerful call to prioritize hope, resilience, and personalized support as essential components of every cancer care strategy. By redefining the care continuum to include mental health and well-being, she set a visionary standard for oncology that challenges us to treat patients as whole individuals, not just clinical cases.
This summit set the stage for the groundbreaking Asia-Pacific Declaration of Cooperation on Advancing Cancer Care Equity. It outlines bold, actionable initiatives—ranging from boosting early detection and establishing regional digital pathology hubs to training hundreds of oncology professionals.
Central to this vision is a robust public-private partnership (PPP) model that leverages industry innovation and sustainable funding, ensuring that breakthrough technologies and collaborative research can thrive across the region.
We sincerely thank Prof. Jonathan A. Lal and Prof. Denis Horgan, for conceptualizing and orchestrating this impactful gathering. Their unwavering commitment to uniting scientific expertise, policy innovation, and industry collaboration is paving the way for a future where equitable cancer care is not just an aspiration but a global reality.
Together, we are forging a path where cutting-edge research, innovative technology, and cross-sector collaboration converge to redefine cancer care for all.”
