Douglas Flora: Start by Believing in the Good Intentions of Others
Douglas Flora, Executive Medical Director of Oncology Services at St. Elizabeth Healthcare, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Start by Believing in the Good Intentions of Others.
One of the things we repeat often at St. Elizabeth is to start by believing in the good intentions of others. Most days, that’s easy. Some days, it takes a little more effort.
Even in a place built on care and compassion, there are stressors and politics, and the normal daily drama that comes with any workplace. It’s easy to get caught up in frustrations or to assume the worst when challenges arise. But this morning, as I came across this uplifting video, I was reminded of something simple but powerful—sometimes, the people around us are just shoveling a heavy load and doing the very best that they can.
So today, I’m choosing to be more intentional about cheering for the people I work with. Because most of the time, they’re doing their best, just like I am. A little encouragement can go a long way.
If you’re feeling buried under it all, I see you. If you know someone carrying a heavy lift, remind them they’re not alone. And if you’re in a position to make someone’s day a little lighter, why not take that chance?”
