“Exciting update in regard to genomic testing in cancer and rare disease patients in Germany:
In early 2024 Model Project for Comprehensive Diagnostics and Therapy Selection by Means of Genome Sequencing for Rare and Oncological Diseases will kick-off with the goal to evaluate the clinical and economic benefits of broad (whole exome and whole genome) genomic profiling in these patients. The ultimate goal is to obtain nation-wide reimbursement for large panels, WES and WGS analysis in cancer and rare disease patients. In addition, during this project, German public insurance will not only cover the sequencing cost but also for molecular tumor boards or multidisciplinary case conferences.”
