Global Trends in Risk Factors Linked to Lung Cancer Deaths

University of Miami Office of the Vice Provost for Research and Scholarship shared on LinkedIn:

“Lung and related cancer deaths have decreased in the world’s 10 most populous countries from 1990 to 2019. However, ongoing policy measures and research are needed to address mortality linked to tobacco use, air pollution, and asbestos exposure.

A new study from Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center at University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, published in eClinicalMedicine – The Lancet Discovery Science, part of The Lancet, highlights these trends.

‘Public health policies and further research are crucial to tackle TBL cancers,’ says Dr. GILBERTO de lima LOPES Junior, senior author of the study.

This research emphasizes the importance of continued efforts to reduce TBL cancer deaths globally. Learn more about the study and its implications for public health.”
