Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center – The Impact of Wildland Fires on Firefighters and Communities
Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center shared on LinkedIn:
“Tune in as Dr. Alberto Caban-Martinez discusses the impact that wildland fires, such as those that recently occurred in California, have on both firefighters and the communities they serve.
Our multidisciplinary team within the Firefighter Cancer Initiative (FCI) works to better document and understand the heightened cancer risks faced by firefighters while identifying novel, evidence-based methods to reduce these risks.
Led by a team of scientists, healthcare practitioners and occupational health and safety experts, the initiative adopts community-engaged approaches to ensure that firefighters’ voices and occupational experiences are reflected throughout all stages of program planning and implementation.
