“ESMO Daily Reporter: How can social determinants of health be integrated into Cancer Care?
Increasing data show that social determinants of health (SDH) are indicators of inequitable environments, which may negatively impact cancer outcomes.
In recent years, literature and speeches focusing on SDH have become prevalent in oncology meetings, and multiple abstracts presented at ESMO23 clearly show that even effective anticancer treatments do not work in adverse SDH contexts.
With the emerging notion showing that SDHs are indicators of inequitable environments capable of impacting cancer outcomes, it is time to enhance their evaluation and duly account for them when reporting population health disparities.”Dive into this topic with the latest column by Dario Trapani, here.
