Emad Shash, Medical Director at the National Cancer Institute, Cairo University, recently shared a post by Fatma Bektash, Oncology Pharmacy Specialist at National Cancer Institute, Cairo University, on LinkedIn, adding:
“When you have the opportunity to work alongside with high caliber enthusiastic professionals, you are a lucky director.
Please make the team under your leadership shining and their ambition of growing and flourishing high as this will reflect on our patients.
I am so proud of you Fatma Bektash and the whole team of patient educators”
Quoting Fatma Bektash’s post:
“Breast cancer patient advocacy plays a crucial role in supporting individuals affected by breast cancer and influencing policies and research related to breast cancer prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and survivorship. Advocacy systems consist of organized efforts and initiatives that aim to empower patients, raise awareness, and advocate for positive change in various aspects of breast cancer care.
It is a privilege to be in Lisbon, Portugal, for the Seventh International Consensus Conference on Advanced Breast Cancer. The ABC7 conference, with the theme “Bridging the Gap” in Breast Cancer, covered a vast array of subjects, including the patient advocacy system, significant drug-food interactions, and the most effective standard treatment guidelines. Furthermore, the conference provided exceptional prospects for professionals to network and engage in substantive discussions, which have the potential to foster partnerships and collaborations.
I had the opportunity to be one of the Breast Cancer Comprehensive Center National Cancer Institute representatives at the ABC conference, where I shared the organization’s implementation of the Education and Psychological Support Program in Egypt and its significant insights. This program is widely regarded as a vital element of comprehensive care for patients who have been diagnosed with breast cancer. Its functions are of the utmost importance in meeting patients’ emotional and informational requirements, bolstering their coping mechanisms, and ultimately enhancing their quality of life.
Thanks to Dr. Emad Shash, and Pfizer for giving me the chance to represent our entity at the conference, and the Patient Educators team Maram Montaser, Sara Ghobrial for this progress, Additionally, the ABC Global Alliance led by Dr. Fatima Cardoso and Dr. Roberta Ventura that deserve recognition for organizing this significant conference that may pave the way for potential future engagements.”
