Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance – Celebrating a milestone in Ethiopia’s fight against cervical cancer

“In honour of Cervical Cancer Awareness Month, we’re celebrating a milestone in Ethiopia’s fight against cervical cancer!
Last year, Ethiopia launched a major vaccine campaign, protecting over 7 million girls aged 9-14 against Human Papilloma Virus (HPV). This is a major step forward, as it’s the first time multiple age groups have been reached at once in Ethiopia.
The Gavi team was proud to attend the launch and visit campaign sites, working alongside Federal Ministry of Health Ethiopia, World Health Organization, UNICEF, JSI, PATH, Clinton Health Access Initiative, Inc., and Acasus, with support from the Gates Foundation.
