Nils Nicolay: 4.000 trees as a symbol of strength and resilience in the fight against cancer!
Nils Nicolay, Professor and Chair of the Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Leipzig Medical Center, shared on LinkedIn:
“4.000 trees as a symbol of strength and resilience in the fight against cancer!
This year’s ‘Patient Day’ of the Department of Radiation Oncology at Leipzig University Hospital took our patients, former patients, cancer survivors, and team members from the inside of our cancer center to the outside.
After short talks and discussions about technical and human innovations in the field of radiation oncology, together, we planted the enormous number of 4.000 trees to reforest the forests north of Leipzig. A great sign of strength and hope for our cancer patients and a symbol for sustainability and a better future!
Over the next years, together with our patients, we will create a growing and flourishing ‘forest of hope’.
A special thanks:
– to the German Cancer Aid for financially supporting this remarkable patient day,
– to the LHG Leipzig Trading Company for the donation of many spades and gloves,
– to the Sachsen-Anhalt state forest administration,
– to our patients and team members who planted with great enthusiasm and determination.”
