David Agus, Founding CEO of Ellison Medical Institute, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Shocking that there is a lack of trust in science!
Conclusion from National Academies of Medicine report a year ago: a pattern of moderate drinking was associated with 18% fewer cardiovascular disease deaths, with a 16% lower risk of all-cause mortality and a 10% heightened risk of breast cancer for women.
Now surgeon general issues a panic statement on alcohol and cancer.
We need real leadership, not scare tactics.
Real answer: it is extremely difficult to make conclusions from behaviour- association studies.”
