Mark Lewis: There is nothing quite like the embodied experience of being a patient
Mark Lewis, Director of Gastrointestinal Oncology at Intermountain Healthcare in Utah, shared a post on X:
“It’s been 5 years since I began an eventful 2020 with a pulmonary embolism.
Not for the first time, I realized there is nothing quite like the embodied experience of being a patient.
You can read and learn about an ‘impending sense of doom’ but it’s entirely different to FEEL it.”
Mark A. Lewis is the Director of Gastrointestinal Oncology at Intermountain Healthcare in Utah, the Co-Chair of adolescent and young adult (AYA) oncology in the SWOG cooperative group, and the Vice President of American Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia Support.
Dr. Lewis is also a well-known patient advocate and social media influencer. His interests are neuroendocrine tumors and cancer syndromes.
